3D Views, also known as stereo pairs, are 2 photographs taken simultaneously from 2 vantage points, usually a few inches apart. The 2 pictures may look similar, but are not the same.
When printed and viewed through a device such as the one shown at right, the brain perceives depth. more information
Most of these samples were originally shot on slide film with a custom camera rig, then scanned and aligned in Photoshop.
The Chaco pair was shot with one digital camera, stepping aside for the 2nd shot. The crane pair was also shot with a single digital camera, but with a moving boat providing the separation between the 2 rapid-fire shots.
